GWYN BEVEL
Gwyn was honored to spend more than two decades in TV news.

She says throughout 3800 shows she always loved to hear from viewers who felt like she was hanging out in their living rooms every evening and morning.

Gwyn’s passion is still alive through on-camera and voice over work, and she is thankful to have the ability to resonate with so many, with each and every word.

Gwyn is cross trained in all aspects of TV news, where she reported, produced, field produced, anchored and even put together special 30-minute shows, and she worked on many over the years in several roles, as the field producer, reporter, writer and anchor.

She says throughout 3800 shows she always loved to hear from viewers who felt like she was hanging out in their living rooms every evening and morning.

Gwyn’s Mom, Aleta, is the president of her fan club, and was there in the early days when she was memorizing speeches for competitions or her lines for leading roles in theater productions. She made sure Gwyn was able to take singing lessons in high school, where Gwyn learned to use her beautiful pipes, and breathe at the same time. Gwyn feels blessed for the many opportunities that helped set the stage for her to pursue her childhood dream of a career as a TV journalist.

Gwyn’s father, Jerry, was a city department director, and was a big influence in her choice to study journalism and later focus on city government.

Gwyn studied Radio-TV News and Political Science at Southern Illinois University Carbondale, where she landed her first news gig at WSIU-TV as a photographer, reporter, producer, and anchor. The student-produced, live, nightly newscast allowed her to quickly gain great comfort on camera.

Gwyn also spent some early morning hours working for WSIU radio, which was also housed on campus. Gwyn is a proud Saluki, and thankful for the solid foundation and phenomenal educators and mentors she was fortunate to learn from at SIUC.

Gwyn attended the University of Illinois at Springfield for her Master’s degree in Public Affairs Reporting, and while in the capital city she worked for WICS, covering state government.

After five years, two degrees, and so much experience Gwyn was thrilled to land at KFDX in Wichita Falls, Texas. She worked her dream beat covering city government until she was given a big promotion.

Before Gwyn completed her first contract year with KFDX, in her beloved Wichita Falls, she was promoted to the morning anchor position. A short time later she was anchoring the 5, 6 and 10 pm shows. She also worked on a special series that took her to fascinating places and allowed her to highlight those who make our way of life easier.

Gwyn also served as the KFDX Assistant News Director, and loved working with young journalists. She will always strive to share knowledge that amazing mentors were kind enough to instill in her. Gwyn was fortunate to work with many talented newsies who are now in top markets all over the country, and enjoys watching them continue to grow and climb.

Gwyn smiled and greeted viewers on her 3,800th and final show in Wichita, Kansas at KSNW. She was part of the award-winning Kansas Today team and loved  spending time with viewers as they woke up to gorgeous Kansas sunrises. Gwyn also worked on a weekly, special series that allowed her to travel across the state with Photojournalist Nick Kieffer sharing the stories of WWII, Korean War, Vietnam War veterans, and many others who served our country. The team also had the opportunity to profile heroes as they took a trip of a lifetime on the Kansas Honor Flight.

Gwyn felt comfortable the first time she appeared on camera and her personality and unique tone will really shine for you. Gwyn looks forward to showing you how decades of experience in reaching those who are watching and listening can pay off for you and your clients. She will always love connecting with people, and on-camera and voice over work allow her to reach so many.
